Dan Smith wins public engagement prize
Dan, a PhD student in the Cardiff WKRU Centre, says: "I'm a scientist get me out of here, is a free online event where students in high school can interact with scientists from all areas of science and psychology and get the chance to ask them about all aspects of science and the life of a scientist. It is an x-factor style competition where the kids get to chat to us directly via an instant messaging system and can leave behind more in depth questions to be asked later. The students then vote for their favourite scientist in each area (my area was the protactinium zone), the winner of which (Me!) is awarded a certificate and £500 to communicate their work to the public."
